there is a cost ($) for each TRAILS event.
TRAILS Equine Therapy with
Devony Tuesdays 3:30-4:45pm: This is a unique opportunity for a small group. This idea started with our “Horses with Devony” event last fall. Some of the group enjoyed it so much that they’ve been asking
for a chance to do more regular horse work ever since. Now that the weather is better for the horses, we are going to start an Equine Therapy Group that will include a series of sessions with Devony and the horses. The
group will meet every other Tuesday afternoon from 3:30-4:45pm. The cost is $10 per session. If you want more
information or to sign-up call Christy at 235-7911 soon, this one is filling up fast and there will only be 5-6 participants in the group.
Tai Chi @ the Senior
Center on Feb.7th @3:00pm: Come try Tai Chi at the Senior Center with some friends from TRAILS. They have it every week, but your first class is free. After that it’s only $3 or $6, depending on membership. (You do not need to be a senior to be a member but you do need to apply). Those of us who’ve gone before will need to pay. Meet at the Senior Center in the dining room around 2:55pm. Wear exercise clothes or just clothes you can move in freely.
TRAILS Tying Flies with
Josh D. Fri. April 5th @ the ILC 1:30-3:30pm: Have you ever wanted to learn how to tie flies for fly fishing? Well
Josh can help you with that. He has been doing this for quite some time and even has some of his products in the stores of Homer! Due to limited supplies, the space for this class will be limited to 3-4 participants- please call Christy at the ILC to sign-up as soon as possible if you’re interested. If there is enough interest, we may create a waiting list
and put on another class. The cost for this class is $5 to cover materials used. You will get to take your creations home
that day!
TRAILS Walking Group Mondays April 8th & April 22nd3-4:30pm: The sun is out and the days are longer, time to get outside! On April 8th we’ll start with a walk on the Spit Trail to keep things simple (hopefully it won’t be too windy). We’ll meet across from the Kachemak Drive parking lot at the top of the trail. Wear good walking shoes and bring your water! On the 22ndwe’ll meet at Bishop’s Beach. We can walk the beach and those
who want to can pick up any garbage along the way to help celebrate and participate in Earth Day! Christy will bring garbage bags, you may want to wear gardening or work gloves to pick up trash. This is a cost-free event!
TRAILS LAST(?) Bowling days April 10th and April 24th @3pm: Come bowl with us at Kachemak Bowl! We usually play between 2-3 games. You pay for your own game but the shoes are free! (Games are $3.75 each per person). We’ll meet there! Come and have some fun! These will most likely be our last bowling days, depending on weather. It’s time to get outside! Look for a walking group and golf to eventually replace this local activity.
TRAILS Pizza Planning meeting: Monday April 15th from 12-1:15pm (new day, old time!) @
Homer Public Library: Some great new ideas have been coming out at the planning meetings. Come join us to brainstorm and give your ideas of what TRAILS can do next month or in the next season!
TRAILS “Play with Clay” April 18th 1-2pm: More information will follow when this event is confirmed.
Full Moon Potluck Bonfire April 25th from 12-2pm @ the Bishop’s Beach Pavilion: Come celebrate the full moon with us this month. Each month’s potluck is getting better; more people are coming, there are camp chairs to share, the
fire has been nice and hot, and the food is always delicious! Please bring some food or firewood to share! Bundle up and think warm and sunny thoughts (with no wind)!
TRAILS Spoon Carving with Mike April 29th 1-3pm @ City of Kachemak Facility: Mike Glasgow, aka, “The Spoon Guy,” is known around Homer for carving beautiful spoons out of wood. We did one session with Mike where he taught a
small group of us a 12 step process on how to carve a face out of any piece of wood. Everyone loved it and learned a lot. Since then people have been asking for another carving class but this time they want to try their hand at carving
their own spoon. There will be a small cost and more details to follow.
Please call Christy at 235-7911 to sign-up for this
class.
Coming Soon…
TRAILS 3rdAnnual Smokey Bay Music Festival Sat. May 11th at Alice’s Champagne Palace! More details to
follow…
This is a very important fundraiser event for TRAILS! We are still confirming all of the final details but we know that our local “Burnt Down House” will be playing for us and one or possibly two other bands out of Anchorage as well. Please
SAVE THE DATE and tell your friends. We will be starting at 6 or 7pm and going to 11pm or midnight! We’ll also need
TRAILS volunteers to work the door in order to make this event the great success it’s been in past years!
What better way to have fun and help out the program that provides you with recreational opportunities? Work the door and dance the night away! This event has been a blast in the past! Updates will follow soon!
Cancellation and Refund Policy: All cancellations must be received at least forty (40) business hours, before the start of the TRAILS event. Cancellations can be received in writing, by e-mail, or verbally. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that time, including scholarships. Refunds will be issued in the same form payment was made. Please allow two weeks for processing.
