Our mission is to promote fun, safe, adaptive, and inclusive recreation opportunities for people of all abilities.
TRAILS Programs are participant driven and empower individuals by increasing self-confidence, teaching independent living skills, and assisting participants to fully realize their capabilities through recreation. We aim to break down stigmas about disabilities as people with and without disabilities work together hand in hand.

What does TRAILS do?
Our activities are powered by the interests of the participants creating self-efficacy among the group as well as encouraging community connection.
1. “One-Hit-Wonders”: These are multi-day, peninsula wide, adventure trips that provide accessible outdoor recreation for people of all abilities on the Kenai Peninsula.
2. Day Trips: These are site-specific trips that are driven by the interest of the participants. These trips usually last the entire day and range from fishing trips to horseback riding.
3. Community activities: These activities are site specific and planned by participants during monthly planning meetings. These events are more frequent and last a few hours. Examples are pot lucks, BBQs, beading classes, bike riding, or a walk in the community. Bring your ideas and you can plan the activity for the TRAILS calendar.
4. Individual Recreation: These activities are one-on-one and work with participants to alleviate physical and attitudinal barriers and instill confidence within the individual as an integral member of the community.
5. Adaptive Equipment: Assists an individual to participate in recreation activities by giving knowledge and access to equipment specialized for their needs.
6. Public Awareness and Special Events: To attend trainings, give presentations, and develop partnerships within each community to enhance knowledge and understanding to break down attitudinal and physical barriers within the Kenai Peninsula.
